Some of my past work

RealWear Inc, produce an industry-leading hands-free wearable headset for frontline workers, industrial engineers and medical professionals.

As the principal User Experience designer at RealWear, I championed the user experience across RealWear’s devices, apps and platforms. I was involved the design process end-to-end, engaging with stakeholders across the business. Below are a few of the varied projects I created for.

Realwear Cloud

Creating the interface for RealWear’s Cloud MDM platform, including Device, Group and Workspace management, Application policies and real-time reporting

As well as building a library of design components and creating consistant layouts and user-flows in a fast-moving CI/CD environment, this project involved the distillation of complex requirements and personas, the creation of onboarding flows and gathering customer feedback

RealWear One

Mobile companion app for RealWear's range of hands-free devices, with full device management and controls, including our remote-expert solution.

Working with complex technical requirements, I designed the user-flows for onboarding new users, device set-up and management as well as working with IOS and Android's library of components and guidelines.

Coca Cola x Olympics

Creation of an interactive microsite for Coca Cola’s ticket competition for the London 2012 Olympics where the prize changed every 2012 seconds.

A very enjoyable project working with the 2012 Olympic branding and creating animations and transitions for this high traffic promotion

Quick to ingratiate himself with both the team some very senior stakeholders, Max commanded a huge amount of respect from all levels of the business, and made a huge impact in his time here.

He is talented, honest, and an absolute pleasure to work with - whether it was hitting horrible deadlines, or simply providing a fresh perspective on how we could do things. His contribution to our digital efforts is still very much alive now... to the point where we still look over our shoulders occasionally and think "what would Max have done here?"

Who am I

Temporary Northerner, London escapee, Bristolian wannabe, Cornish forever

I’m Max. A professional digital designer since 2003. Started my career working in agencies back when layouts meant tables and the first tech bubble had only just popped, then a move to the capital for a glorious decade or so of freelance and contracting.

A trip round the world, landing in Bristol for start-ups and SASS and the new world of post-lockdown opportunities. Along the way I’ve worked for a hugely diverse range of clients, from the very biggest multi-nationals, to fledgling enterprises, tech scale-ups and charities for good measure.

When not working I love adventures outside, be that surfing, cycling, climbing, snowboarding or hiking. I’m also rather keen on Lego, dancing, tea, and proper cider.
